Star Sports revolution

So the League matches of Indian Premier League 2014 coming to an end within this week. Only a handful of matches left and the contest to be in the qualifying play-offs is intense now. Last night Dhoni had a piece of hard luck when he decided to give the ball for the last over to David Hussey who has no experience in bowling in IPL T20s, and not to Mohit Sharma who is unarguably proved himself to be one of the best bowlers of this season.

To make sure that I don't miss even a shot of my favourite player's, i.e., Mohit Sharma's matches, I have got my broadband connection upgraded to a higher plan, thus enabling me to stream live on starsports.com without any buffering obstacles.

About the website's variety of enormous, game-changing features for IPL T20, I like Live Streaming the most as it enables bachelors like me who don't own a tv set (or cable connection to make their PC monitor work like tv) to watch the match at ease sitting at home and munching snacks at will.

Star Sports has really brought a revolution to the traditional tv watching in general and particularly in my life too. Now I can watch different clips, interesting sections of the previous matches, best of batting, bowling, fielding, wicket-keeping anytime whenever I log in to the website. Having a bottle of beer on weekends with peanuts on our side and watching IPL on starsports.com has become a regular routine since last one month.

Unfortunately, IPL would be over in next two weeks. But I have found another interesting feature on star sports, i.e., to watch Badminton live on the website. So as to say - nowadays apart from IPL, I am also enjoying live streaming of India's campaign in Thomas and Uber Cups on StarSports.com since last two days and I am a dedicated fan. Long live starsports.com :)

IPL StarSports combo

Well, this may or may not be my last post on Indian Premier League 2014. But I will keep watching the IPL to see more of the success for my dear friend Mohit Sharma of Chennai Super Kings. He has been the sole motivation behind me watching IPL since last season. Never before I have followed this T20 empire series.

That reason apart, yesterday when I was in the grocery store, my eyes got glued to DD inning for some time and it was then that Rajat Bhatia took a stunning catch to get rid of the in-form Duminy. I got an interest in the match and thereafter I jogged down to my room so as to complete my dinner first and then watch RR chase.

But my bad luck, the electricity went off. I couldn't switch my pc then to catch the action. Then I took out my mobile and checked the battery to be decent enough to start the match by logging on to star sports website. Deferred Live was the right option for me to tap into at that time. A spirited performance by Karun Nair (73* off 50 balls) helped the Rajasthan Royals beat the Delhi Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. During their chase of 153, the youngster stayed in the middle throughout the run-chase and eventually struck the winning runs with nine balls to spare.

A roller-coaster ride again this IPL. And then I went on to check Zip Clips of the action I missed out. It has been a great association as a user of starsports.com till now and hoping for it to continue for the rest of the season. I don't love IPL but I would never want to miss the bowling of Mohit Sharma, just saying again to confirm my belief in his meteoric rise in the spheres of cricket. Keep performing, friend!

Star Sports rocks

Continuing from my previous post, I had missed one important proceeding of the day, that of Mohit gaining the purple cap, awarded to the current highest wicket taker of the season. An emotionally satisfying moment of his career nevertheless.

But I missed it in the highlights on star sports while watching Action Recap on their website. Got to know of it today morning in the Facebook news when his younger brother posted Mohit's pic from IPL page, him donning the purple cap in style. Following that moment of greatness, I was so pumped up that I called him to get the passes for his next match to one of my relatives residing in the corresponding city. Crazy, huh! And I also will make sure to catch the action of that match on tv or my pc, just to see him distinctly visible on the field with his purple cap.

Coming back to earlier note, as soon as I got to know about this feat accorded to him, I checked out the Infografix section on starsports.com, and there I got the stats revealing him to be the highest wicket-taker currently. A large smile spread on my face and I couldn't wait to post that pic (shared by his bro) on the FB fan page of Mohit which he and I jointly manage. And it has been received with great applause and congratulatory messages by his fans on the page. Hope to see the success continuing like this for the rest of the season 2. And I can't just wait for the moment when I will meet him again after one whole year and get the passes for his last league match, against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy stadium here.

Till then, Kanna keep calm and watch IPL, for nothing is more exciting at present than cricket.

Mohit Sharma... proving himself

And there he was again, taking back to back wickets breaking the back of opponents' team in a grilling encounter of the seventh version of Indian Premier League, one of the highest stages of T20 cricket ever. But I wasn't able to watch the match completely, as I had to attend the screening of a play and then a dinner with my cousin. As expected, I missed the batting of Chennai Super Kings but that didn't bother me. My main aim to switch on IPL has always been the bowling of my long time friend Mohit Sharma.

Therefore, I drove 10 kms of traffic snarled streets of Bangalore with maddening but safe tactics of reaching home at time to catch the action live. But I still missed the first two of his three sensational wickets he took that day. I could only watch the third wicket he took, second of that over of his, giving shocks to the visiting party and vibrations of celebrations to the hosts.

And CSK won due to brilliant efforts of McCullum and Jadeja as well as Mohit himself. But the saviour for me again had to be star sports website where I had to tune in to Action Recap tab, to rewind the match and Mohit's wickets for me. I watched the action not once, not twice but thrice. It was such an enormous action on display and the highlights on the flip of your keyboard and mouse is so inviting to start it over any number of times we want. Have to see what technology has gifted you for entertainment.

I texted Mohit after the match congratulating him for his success (possible to sms him now as they all are back in India for the second leg of the IPL, hoping to meet him soon enough). Till then, Great Bowling, Mohit! ;)

IPL in the car

Once again starsports.com saved me from missing crucial moments of last night's match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians in the last leg of Indian Premier League 2014 in United Arab Emirates.

Actually we had gone on a 100 km one way trip to Mekedatu, the Sangam of rivers Cauvery and Arkavathy, near Bangalore. While travelling back in the late hours of the day I realised that today is the last IPL match outside India. And as soon as I took out my Android to watch the match live whatever left on the Star Sports website, I encountered no network signal since we were in a desolate jungle area that time. And I was sure then that I will miss the match today also.

However, there was a beacon of hope too. As soon as we reached home, after freshening up, I switched on my desktop pc and logged on to starsports.com to witness their Zip Clips section where the video of Irfan Pathan bowling last over to save match for SRH against MI had just been posted. Watched the full over there to actually see how he came out to be the unlikely hero of the match for his team and his captain Shikhar Dhawan.

However for me the unlikely hero here turned out to be the amazing revamped website of Star Sports network, which hosts an array of latest features to make sure we don't miss out on anything important in these IPL matches. With the second and last leg of the series just to start in 2 days' time in India where we have a crucial match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, it will be exciting to see which players and which team dominates on Indian pitches. And soon the match will come to Bangalore between RCB and CSK and hopefully like the last year, I will get a match pass from my friend Mohit Sharma to catch the action live at Chinnaswamy stadium on 24th of May.
